Schedule of events for Holy Week

The Holy See Press Office releases Pope Francis’ schedule for Holy Week this year. As the Lenten season draws closer toward Holy Week, the Vatican on March 23 released details of the programme of celebrations for Holy Week at which Pope Francis will preside. A note from the Master of Pontifical Liturgical Ceremonies, Msgr. Guido Marini, indicates the following:

• Palm Sunday Mass (video) at the Altar of the Chair in St. Peter’s Basilica
• Homily of his Holiness Pope Francis

• Chrism Mass (video) at the Altar of the Chair in St. Peter’s Basilica, presided by the Pope
• Homily of his Holiness Pope Francis
• Mass of the Lord’s Supper (video), presided by Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, the Dean of the College of Cardinals

• Celebration of the Passion of the Lord (video) at the Altar of the Chair
• Way of the Cross (video) at St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican
• Way of the Cross (meditations and prayers)
  Way of the Cross meditations have been prepared and animated by a Scouts group, a Roman parish and other young people.

• Easter Vigil (video)
• Homily of his Holiness Pope Francis

• Easter Sunday Mass (video)
• Urbi et Orbi Easter Message and Blessing (video)
